Help Cutting Heat Transfer With GCC Expert24

15113 Views 35 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  Blue92
I've had my GCC Expert 24 for about 2 weeks now and just got around to trying to use it for cutting heat transfers that I printed but I'm having zero luck finding a tutorial or clear explanation on how to get this done.

I installed the software that came with the cutter, installed it as a printer and plan on using it with Corel Draw X5...

when I open Corel Draw the little icons pop up with the GCC buttons in them so I'm pretty sure everything is set up correctly.

I imported the image that I want to cut (the same image printed onto the heat transfer) and from there I'm lost...

I need to make a 1/2" border around the image that will be white so the cut line should go around the image, which is a .png with transparent background so I can see the outline but in Corel Draw the page is white and I can't see the cut lines or border around the image...

could someone, anyone PLEASE explain how to get the image-once printed onto the transfer-cut in the shape I need??
PLEASE.

the only tutorials I can find are how to install the software and how to cut vinyl...I need to cut the transfer paper, not vinyl...

all help is appreciated.

If you have the Expert LX this has the optical eye for cutting transfers. The Expert does not, but any case have you registered your cutter with GCC?

Its very important to register your cutter you get a 3 month warranty extension and some helpful videos to help with cutting transfers.

Also, remember your GCC dealer should be your first line of contact when it comes to helping you. Do not let them send you to GCC directly. Its become a bad habit of GCC dealers, pushing off their customer support onto GCC.

GCC CLUB - Laser Engraving, Cutting, Marking, Vinyl Cutter and Inkjet Printer

Once you are registered, look for product videos GCC Series. There are several videos to help with contour cutting.

I'd say it's more than "pretty good." Best one I've seen.

Does there happen to be a tutorial like this for AI? I need help with getting my cutter going with great cuts/GCC expert 24lx and AI, thanks....
Using the Expert 24 is like using Linux, 80% of the information you need is spread across 50 different locations.

We're you able to get this information?
The MultiSkin program doesn't work with CorelDraw 6 yet? When I open MultiSkin right click I have no option to select CorelDraw, and when I go to settings there is only GCC.bmp in the box. Do I need to get anopther version of CorelDraw?
As far as I know, GreatCut does not yet support X6.....Or CS6 either....So if you are using X6 or CS6 you will have save and import or cut and paste.....

I also Have Adobe Master collection (I read they use Adobe Ill, also) will it work with MultiSkin? What other programs will?
Great Cut works fine with Corel Draw x6 (32 bit version). I use it all the time with x6, but have yet to try it with the 64 bit version of Corel Draw x6.

And as far as the MultiSkin program, it works for Corel Draw version x4 and earlier. It will not work with x5 or up, nor is it needed. Great Cut is installed as a macro in both x5 and x6. (Tools>Customization>Commands>Macros)

Scott I will have to look into that.....GCC told me otherwise.....Thanks...
Yes I have CorelDraw 5 and 6 (Nerver installed coreldraw 5) 64bit version. I have a LOT of reading to do before I get the order of things correct. From creating a design, printing it out (from Epson printer) and having my GCC Expert 24 LX cut it. Oh yeah I have FlexiSign 10 too.
Using AI CS6...waiting for driver to cut from Illy. For now I cut and paste. works fine so far.

MMONK, so if I cut and past from AI, I will have to make a Print Layer and a Cut Layer? The cut layer will be just the contour outline? What about registration marks?

I am not sure how to do it directly from AI, however here are instructions on how to get it from AI to Greatcut and then contour cut.

Feel free to ask any questions.... :)
