You can create the text, and then create outlines, expand, then ungroup each letter and apply a stroke to each letter, or bring the grouped word to photoshop and do a stroke to that image...
Hope that helps

You can do double strokes on your text and #'s. I believe first you have to turn your text into outlines. Right click on the text and choose "create outlines". Once you do this give your text a white outline or whatever color your background is supposed to be then go to "appearance" palette and click on the upper right button with the arrow on it. In that menu you will see an option that says "add new stroke". This will add another stroke around your current one. Simply just adjust the weight and turn it the same color as your text and you should have your text with an outer outline. Hopefully this is what you were looking for.
When you add the stroke look in the stroke palette and you should see an option called "align stroke". It will show three squares beside it. If you click on the one farthest to the right it will put your stroke outside the text without cutting into it which is what you would want. The one in the middle puts the stroke completely inside and the first one is the default which puts the stroke right in the middle. Thanks, When I do a stroke on a text it seems to make the text smaller, the stroke looks good but seems to make the text skinny.. I don't know if that made sense
Is there a way for the stroke not to cut into the text?
