Try taking a pic of the heather grey fabric and use it as a photoshop pattern on your current template.

You should also be able to simulate a heathered look fairly easily using Noise and Motion Blur.

any idea on how to do that??

also, how can u make the pattern fit to the shape of the tee template without manually cutting off the edges etc...not sure what the process is called. i was thinking of cutting a sample frm that jc pic with the hearther grey and trying it.

thnks

To make a pattern?
With the image to be used as a pattern open and cropped how you want:
Edit>Define Pattern...

*EDIT* Or did you mean how to simulate a heathered pattern?
Open a new file, fill it with grey, and add noise.
Filter>Noise>Add Noise...
Then add motion blur.
Filter>Blur>Motion Blur...

You'll have to play with the settings a bit to get it to match the heather that you want...

Make a selection of the inside of your t-shirt template (using whichever selection method is easiest/most accurate for you: magic wand/color range/pen tool). You may need to right click on the selection and choose "Make Work Path" (the pen tool automatically creates a work path).
Using this work path, make a new fill layer with your pattern. Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern...

Save your template with the work path and it will be there any time you need to make that selection.

id also like to know about templates, when brands have mock ups of these with their own neck tags and tags at the bottom of the shirts, are they just pics or scans of the actual tag then pasted onto the tee template??

thanks
