Heat Transfer. Vinyl cutter ? Inkjet printer? Transfer paper?

I got into dye sublimation, but would now like to expand to heat transfer. I already have a heat press, but the other equipment I don’t know about. Nor do I know the process. To my understanding you get heat transfer paper and a inkjet printer and a vinyl cutter, you make your design and print it onto your transfer paper using an inkjet printer. After that you use a vinyl cutter to cut out the design then you heat press it. But a vinyl cutter is very expensive. Is there any way to just print onto heat transfer paper and then heat press it? Or is there another method that bypasses a vinyl cutter? Basically is there any way to heat transfer print onto T-shirts without a vinyl cutter? Thanks for your help!
