Hey guys,

So I am about to purchase a heat transfer unit, thinking about the Maxx Press Digital 11"x15". I like the options on transferexpress.com for the artwork, so I most likely will use that site to order prints from. My questions is this: A friend of mine wants me to do shirts for his softball league that is starting soon. A few years ago I had a friend ask for shirts for a softball team and I screen printed the front logo with an aluminum screen on my 4-color press table, and on the back I did the numbers with a custom-built (in my garage) wood frame screen that had numbers 0-9 haha. The screen was huge and obviously as you can imagine it was very difficult to print the numbers, thank God he didn't ask for names as well haha. Anyways I am getting off track... So my friend wants shirts for his softball league starting next month and I was planning on screen printing the front logo and heat transferring the names and numbers on the back. So my question (finally) is since the shirt is just placed on the platen on the heat press can you heat transfer a front and back logo on a heat press? Only reason I ask is because when you screen print the shirt goes on the platen surrounding it, not just lays on top. So for the heat press, after you do one side of the shirt and turn it over to do the opposite side, will the bottom (side touching the platen which is most likely still hot) design peel/crack or be damaged??

Ok I was kind of ranting there.. haha. Hopefully someone can answer my question or at least somewhat understand what I am saying or understand my concerns.

Thanks a bunch,
Mike

Hello Mike,

If I understood correctly you will be screenprinting the front design and using plastisol transfers for the rear.

If so, I would place a Teflon pillow inside the shirt, so the front ink doesnt get overcured by the heat.

Also since you are getting an 11x15 press, you can actually insert the shirt the same way you would do when screenprinting, meaning around the platen. I do so with my 15x15.

Yes thats exactly what I was asking. Thank you for the info, that helps a lot. Yeah I was thinking about do heat transfer for front and back...I probably will do that so I dont have to waste time preparing a screen and ink to print.

Thanks again!
