Would appreciate it if anyone could help with the following: I am pressing some shirts and the mask keeps staying stuck to the platen when I release it. Most of the time it messes up the logo and I have to remove the entire logo (or what is left of it) from the shirt and repress. Am using a Hotronix press, Roland transfer vinyl & Roland mask. Tried different temperatures as the literature states to use "275 deg - 350 deg, 12 - 15 seconds and firm pressure.

Thank You:)

First off make sure you are using the correct type of heat on your press. There are 2 kinds, Celsius and Fahrenheit.

The conversion for the two of them is as follows:
C x 1.8 + 32 = F
F - 32 x 1.8 = C

If your press is Celsius and you're using the temp for Fahrenheit you will cook most anything you try to press.

I'm not sure what a mask is, but when pressing vinyl I put the fabric down, the vinyl transfer on top of that, and then either a sheet of kraft paper or a teflon sheet. That keeps anything from getting on the heat platen. You can even use a piece of blank copy paper on top of the transfer if you don't have either of the other two.

IBEN - thank you for your help. The temp is on F. The mask is used to lift the vinyl with the design/logo from the backing after you print/cut/weed and you place it on the shirt and press. I print & cut with a Roland VersaCamm.

This usually works for me:
1. Preheat garment
2. Place image with mask and cover with silicone or teflon sheet
3. Press for 5 seconds
4. Open press and cool image with old shirt or towel until it is cool enough to touch but is still pretty warm. Fairly small window timewise but a little trial and error will tell you when it's ready.
5. Start to peel mask and watch the edge of the image. If it starts to come up, push it back down and wait a few seconds and try again. Once the edge stays down, you can peel the rest of the mask carefully but don't take your time as the window is pretty small.
6. Put cover sheet back over image and press for full amount of time.
If you use kraft paper, make sure it is coated with silicone

Good luck!
