Heat press works fine BUT won't stay open HELP

5819 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Caryn716
I have taken a long break raising my kids and now trying to get up and going again... Well, I went to use my press (can't remember model but it's a Geo Knight clam shell).... well, the thing won't stay open. I literally have to use my head (ouch) to hold it open by resting the handle on the top of my head, lol. Anyway, I am not handy and do not know who to call to come to repair it. Is this common and if so, any ideas on troubleshooting? Thanks in advance :)

this is a pretty basic frame setup, not much can go wrong
(unless you have auto open)
check all your nuts and ensure they are tight, if not tighten with wrench

You need new gas springs. $15 ...just match your part numbers from the ones on your press to the part numbers on the support page.

It is very easy to replace yourself, it takes about 5 mins.
Have any questions let me know.

Like Amw said, shocks need replacing. Not a big job to do and not too expensive.

NICE... I usually live by Murphy's Law and usually when things go wrong, it is a biggie. Thank you so much for the help. I'm sure I will be asking 10,000 more questions because it has been 12 years since I closed my business and I'm sure there have been a lot of changes. Anyway, thank you again!!! :):):)
