I have a question I need any advice and answers to. I have the HM1 DTG printer and it is ok, but I am not too impressed. The color doesn't pop like screen printed shirts and it seems fade after several washes. I am really ready jump out there and learn how to screen print. But not sure on several things. How much does the whole set up cost to get started, How long does it take to learn, how much room does it take up, and do you really save money on the prints, I know I can buy plastisol transfers but cost is not cheap. How much does a shirt cost to screen print standard print? How many people does it take on average to screen print? Can you buy a automatic screen printer that takes one person to run? Is this something I should be scared to get into? Does anyone know of someone that could show me their setup and how the process works in the Texas area? This forum has been awesome and can't say enough about the wonderful people that make time to help people like me out.
Thanks so much to you all!!!
Any advise is greatly appreciated!!

first off I would be concerned about ink quality and washability from your DTG printer.

Now I understand about the colors, like bright florescent colors are not DTG best quality but other colors in the CMYK family should be colorful and bright.

I love the washabilty of my t shirts I have t shirts that we wear all the time and wash like normal that don't fade.

Is it your darks or whites?
what inks are you using?

I don't know much about DTG, but I have been screen printing for a long time. I have seen people get into this business that did not have a clue. To answer your questions is not an easy task. The best thing I think you can do is to go to a trade show, take some classes, look at all the equipment, ask 10 million questions from other shoppers, not salesmen, go home, do the math and try to find used equipment. I love this business but I have been doing this for over 15 years, I learned it in the 70's and started my own business in 1995. I'm still learning. It can be a never ending process depending on how far you want to take it.

Good Luck
