cases?

I just had a customer tell me theirs was coming apart after just a few days use.

Has anyone else had reports of this? when I put them together, I take a dry cloth and rub all over the metal plate to be sure it is adhering well.

this was coastals brand. I've attached the photo they sent me.

thanks,

melinda

To me, it looks like it has been "picked at" and the aluminium pulled away from the cover and bent, and then won't bend back ... just like when you align one a bit out and try and pull the aluminium off to realign it to find that you can't, and the aluminium just bends badly. I would suspect the customer was a bit too inquisitive on how they are made/put together. You can't tell that to the customer though. Hopefully you just have to replace this one, and they haven't bought a batch and want them all replacing.
I have had any negative reports from my customers. I have an old iphone that I use once I put the cover on and then rub the cover with medium pressure to set it.
i think Pisquee Is correct in his/hers analysis.I have done hundreds of these cases and never had a "Plate" fall off or Warp, although the other day I did have one case returned to me with the person saying It wouldn,t fit their Phone,Indeed instead of the longish slot on the side It had 2 Small Circles & a Small square,I have just posted It back to Coastal,I,m guessing that the case at point of manafacturing wasn,t properly machined/Routed..........
thanks a lot for your responses.

Let me just say I have been very happy with coastal and they were quick to respond about this.

I do think you all are right that she either tried to pry it off (or something).

I'm just going to replace and just wait and see if I get further comments. I found out the hard way that once these things are down you can't pull them back off to realign them ! so couldn't see how it could pull lose like that.

good to know. I'm still looking for other phone models. looks like I may have to look into the 3d technology. major bucks.

thanks again,

Melinda

Actually, the soft rubber case that I made for my wife is coming un-glued on one corner. We have taken it on and off the phone a few times though. I also take a dry cloth and press on them pretty well when I insert them. The only thing I can think of is that these soft cases are much more pliable than their hard case counterparts and can bend away from the more rigid aluminum.

It scares me a little bit as I just started selling these soft cases this week. I've not had an issue with the hard plastic cases separating at all.

That Is exactly why I won,t sell the Soft Cases I had one a Few months Back and Didn,t get a good vibe about them. Most of the Initial reaction was that they looked and felt cheap........
this was one of the soft/rubber/silicone ones. well darn. I like them better because they are easier to get on and off the phone but if this is going to be an issue I'll stick to the plastic !
I,m sure the "Soft" ones are fine.I just feel the "Hard" ones are sturdier and look better value for money.
I made one of these on the hard plastic for my niece. first thing she did was drop her phone and she said the corner chipped. can't remember which company I was using for hers (using condes now, much more brilliants colors on their metal).

is this a common issue? hope not, I've already sold a couple hundred of these !

thanks,

Melinda
^^^^^^^^^ Well I would say that these cases are designed more as a Fashion Item Rather than a Protective Item,so not really an Issue IMO......a Neoprene or Rubber one Is probably better for Knocks & Bumps
thats true and if I had a $500 phone I'd be a little more careful with it ! I think I will make her a rubber one and have her try that to see how it works for her, lol. course she is trying to text while holding a month old baby with a 2 year old vying for her attention, lol. just wondered if anyone had found some company's were more durable than others. the cases all seem the same to me but conde's metal has much better colors than the others I have tried.
Uh yeah these metal inserts come up after about a month of being on. I dont believe that person picked at it. Heat messes the tape up. It does not matter where I order from or whether I use rubber or hard plastic cases they are coming apart and costing me alot in refunds.

Its a 50/50 shot whether the customer will contact you about it...but they come out of the wood work after 4-6 wks. Not good.

While they are cheap..I guess you get what you pay for :(
Had a customer come back to us to buy some other things, who had bought a hard plastic iphone cover from us back in December - it was looking as good as the day I'd sold it :)
Yeah i recommend if you know someone who has a roland lef-12 you can print directly to the case or the iphone for that matter.

I've sold over 2000 of these now and have had around 35 I've had to replace. All have been rubber except 2 plastic.

I have cut a piece of wood to fit slightly loosely inside the iphone cover and now really really press hard on the rubber and use a tool to push all along the edges. the reports have nose dived since doing this so hopefully this is the answer.

I am looking into the sublicases and 3d sublication though.
I am not understanding the wood part...I am trying to image but cant

I tried to send you a private message but got a message you had exceeded your limit of stored messages.

basically I have cut a piece of wood slightly smaller than an actual iphone. insert it into the case just like it was an iphone and then it acts as a backing to push against when adhering the metal plate. I'll try to get a photo. I sent you an email earlier.

Melinda
Like Melinda I have also sold 2000 or so and only had half a dozen returns....
