Hi all

I'm looking to upgrade my current home made wooden 4 colour screen printing machine.

Happy to pay what it needs but in reality, we don't do a lot of tee shirts (Yet) mainly printing onto other fabric etc...

I'm looking at this:

https://www.pyramidscreenproducts.co.uk/hand-printing-carousel-4-colour-c2x19150063

Seems to have micro registration but not really sure.

The other option would be something like this:
https://www.pyramidscreenproducts.co.uk/workhorse-odyssey-4-colour-tabletop-c2x17742290

Obviously huge price difference, but like I say, I'm happy to pay the money, if it's worth it...

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Both are too expensive.

The cheaper one of the two is just a generic Chinese import that is available all over ebay and from other suppliers. It probably will be little or no better than what you currently have.

The other is a well respected brand, Workhorse but at £1900 +vat it is way too expensive for what it is. With the £/$ exchange rate on its backside this is the wrong time to be importing from America, unfortunately. You will be stuck with a press that is in a 4/1 configuration, with no ability to add extra print stations or colours.

The Vastex tabletop is upgradeable ( not sure avbout the price, but probably still to much - available in UK from a company called Dalesway). https://www.dalesway.co.uk/
For about £200 more you could get the small Weiss floor standing press in 4/1 configuration, direct from Denmark ( or pay alot more from Wicked Printing Stuff). That is fully loaded with micros'/sideclamps and alloy platen, with a compact 2 metre diameter. You can upgrade to 6/6 if needed. Top quality press.
SMALL Series - Screen Print Carousels | Weiss Machines

Best bet is to wait for something good to come up on ebay. For £1200 - £1500 you can usually get something good.

Hi Pat

Many thanks for the comments

I sort of guessed that the cheaper of the two was a Chinese press. Never really much good.

The workhorse, although better, vastly overpriced for what it is.

The Daleway looks good, depending upon price. I'll contact them and see what the prices are.

Weiss also looks good.

I guess I need to shop around and see what's out there.

There is also Dave Roper who distributes M & R and Riley Hopkins presses.

Like Vastex and Workhorse you will end up paying an unfavourable exchange rate plus dealer profit, which you can avoid with Weiss.

All are top quality presses ( obviously the entry level Vastex and Hopkins are not as 'good' as the top of the range models, and the M and R Kruiser is not as 'good' as an M and R Chameleon). I would say that the Weiss and the M&R Chameleon are the best engineered presses there.
