I hope someone can help us out, since brother is useless to speak with anyone that can help.

When we turned on the 381 this morning, it said our black cartridge was empty. We thought it was odd since we changed it a few weeks ago. We went ahead and put in a new cartridge, and it said the same thing. There was a lot of humidity buildup overnight and we let it sit for a while but the black still says that it's empty. I tried resetting the circuit board behind the cartridge, swapping the circut from one that was working, to no avail. My guess is the ink sensor board that all of the individual 8 cartridges plugs into got messed up with the humidity but any help would be great.

GSE, you would have received 4 CMYK filter cartridges with the original purchase of you GT3. You will want to place a filter cartridge into the K slot as the machine should register full on the screen. If the screen shows full then the issue is the black ink cartridge and the flag being damaged. If the screen shows empty there may be an issue with sensor or cables connecting back to main PCB.
