Grinding noise in the capping station

Hi, I turned on my machine this morning and it started it's usual head cleaning process and before it was finished it started to make a grinding noise. I immeditly hit the emergency stop button. I have removed the capping station, cleaned it and replaced it. I have no idea what is going on. Thank you!

Did you replace it with a new one or put the old one back in it?
I put the old one back in. I don't have a new one on hand.
Sorry, when you said replaced it, my mind said "put in a new one".

When you power the system off after it grinds, does the printhead move or is it locked in place? If it's locked in place or can't move to the left, then most likely the blade isn't rotating all the way like it should.
The print head is still capable of moving. I can't tell whether or not my wiper blade is moving the way it should though. I know that there is nothing inhibiting to movement of the wiper. At least not anything I can see.
If the station is out of timeing you will experience a loud grinding noise which is a failsafe cog slipping ,to correct it depending on which machine you have you need to find the adjustment screw which is on the side of the pump in the capping station and follow my previous post on the correct setting method.
jonmig is correct. It is hanging up on the white lever that is located in the back left hand corner of the capping station.

Try not to let it continue, as that grinding sound is the teeth on your drive belt being ground off.

Worst case, replace the capping station.
here's a thought. (probably a bit simple though :))

Similar problems for us a few days ago...slamming printhead and grinding noises galore.

simple solution for us. the encoder strip was dirty. a simple but thorough wipe with an alcohol wipe had our machine running properly in 5 mins!
Thank you for all your help! I will let you know if I get it running again. I really hope I don't have to replace the capping station.:)

Please keep in mind that the capping assembly is a wear part. It is a good idea to replace it approximately once a year with a new one as part of a regular maintenance program. Especially if you are using white ink.
