Greyscale (halftone) print on Black

This is from a photograph by Dutch photographer Mario Gerth. Striking image. I was quite taken by it amongst others. I intentionally used a coarser mesh and used 3 grey values. It's progressive from left to right. White, darker grey, lighter then lightest. There's a Black screen I didn't print. And the partial outline was also intentional. 156 mesh, 42.5 line, 22.5 angle on all, round dot:

Were you considering a highlight white at all? The first down white has some interesting contrast detail (in the eyes, especially) that goes away a bit near the end. Very cool imagery (and imaging), for sure.

Isn't he von Deutschland, not Dutch? (I've seen more than a couple sites say he's Dutch--not sure why)

There are some seriously amazing pictures on his homepage--Mario Gerth - Fotografie

Fooooo! Yes, I almost stopped with just the white. I think I'll try just the white, darker grey and add the black just to see what happens.

Not sure about the nationality thing. Probably actually German. Came across another site that was all in German.
I have to admit, I always thought a highlight white would be easy to drop in--then I tried it. Might be interesting with the black though--since it would stay away from any of the very bright highlights.

The other thing I've been meaning to try (when I don't have 40-50 screens to run in a week) is a reverse--starting with a black, and working my way up to white. Seps would be a beatch though.
This is the print on a white shirt with no white. I'm going to try different print order and also flashing before the black.

You could cheat by posterizing the greyscale image to however many levels, select each level, give it a little blur or feather and save each as a channel.
Yep, but then you're :mad:flashing:mad:. (I know it's your favorite )
