I have a consistent problem after washing in cold water low heat dryer. The ink flakes leaving white spots and the graphic wrinkles and lifts at edges. I am using Neenah 3G Opaque dark transfer on a Gildan 50/50 cotton poly. Epson 1430 on photo with Epson ink. Following pressing directions; 10 second press prior to remove moisture, 350° for 30 seconds. Please help. I have an image but do not see a way to attach or paste it. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Try 350 for 15 seconds cold peel then try 370 for 15 second cold peel. Just because your press says 350° doesn't mean it is accurate. I have had great success with that paper and it NEVER did that. It only would crack after 10 or so washes.

something is not right
it should not be wrinkled like that

it's not 50/50 vs. 100% cotton

have you bought these shirts from a dept. store or pre-washed these yourself?

also, are you covering with parchment paper or regular printing/copy paper?

cold peel these, right?

Thank you. These are Gildan 50/50 hoodies purchased from jiffyshirts. I did not pre-wash them. I use the Teflon sheet and cover that with a cotton tee as directed. Yes, cold peel. Thank you so much for the press advice. I will try that this weekend. It is so nice to converse with you. I do not have any peers to talk with about these things and it can sometimes be discouraging.

couple of thoughts - get a cheap ir thermometer to check the actual platen temp - better than guessing and chinese presses tend to be off a bit. 2nd thing I have not read anywhere - are you pre pressing the garment 5 seconds to remove moisture before you apply the graphic?

never heard of covering with a tee

i just use a piece of parchment paper, no teflon

with a cold peel that would mean you have to wait for each shirt to cool before you could remove the teflon and press another

hoodies generally take a little more time and pressure than t-shirts

sticky brush, pre-press 10 secs (not full pressure just resting on the garment), apply design, cover with parchment, press medium heavy pressure 35 secs
let cool completely remove parchment paper (don't re-use or you may get ink on the next tee or your platen)

You're rock star dude. Thank you for the temp tip. I brought home my infrared thermometer from work and the press is 10-15° off (cooler).

I pressed a dark transfer as per these posted instructions. Attached is an image, the graphic is pitted. I thought they were supposed to be smooth. Is this the way the dark paper comes out? If so, I do not care for the way they look. I want better quality for my customers.

I pressed several samples using the light transfer paper and those garments came out beautiful. I have yet to wash them though. I will update when I can.

Thank you so much :)
