Seems to be geared more towards point-of-sale restaurant orders, not sure how well it would work for art.

I like my large Monoprice tablet. The Monoprice ones generally get "better than a Bamboo but not as good as an Intuos" reviews, or at least that's what I saw a lot of when I was researching tablets. I wanted an Intuos3 but I could never find a good deal on one.

For only $44.63 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 10x6.25 Inches Graphic Drawing Tablet w/ 8 Hot Key | Graphics Tablets w/ Hot Key

They have others, I got this one because the 10x6.25 models have a higher resolution than the smaller ones.
Well that is only touch screen from what I have read so far. I is NOT pressure sensitive. Wacom products (except a minor few) are pressure sensitive.

I purchased a used Fujitsu 5111 and fell in love. It is a slate PC that I use to hand draw in a traditional sense into Photoshop and can be used with any other software as well.

I suggest buy a Fujitsu 5112 as they are fantastic and can hold up to 4GB of ram which is good and are super cheap. I got mine for $150 and still use it everyday!

Other than that, google search "Slate PC" and see what you find.

Same here. I use a HP TouchSmart TM2 tablet PC. I recommend though that anyone looking to buy a new tablet now should wait til later this year and see what kind of devices will come out with Windows 8. We should see thinner, slate tablets, with detachable keyboard, touchscreen, and stylus included. It'll be the very best tool for digital drawing. I'm looking to upgrade my tablet to one of those. The Samsung Series 7 Slate is a taste of what's to come.
I recommend going with Wacom line of tablets. I've heard good things about the new Bamboo line. If you really want to go cheaper consider the Intuos line, might find a good size for cheap on eBay. Tablet wise I'm currently using an iPad2 with a Wacom bamboo stylus. The apps I run for painting are Sketchbook Pro and iDraw for vector based images. I know you can also do this with Android tablets and even modded Kindle Fires but not sure on the apps to use. Good luck in your search.
I run an Intuos 4...........................
Hey the best suggestion for you Mac Book !!! also use for printing, for customers representation etc.
The screen that you linked to on ebay is actually sold by chinavasion.com, my guess is you would get it cheaper there, cutting out the middleman and all. Thing is these chinese made screens dont tend to be that high quality and probably wouldnt last too long for design work.
I use an ancient Wacom Graphire 4. It's stood up to a hell of a beating and worth every penny I paid for it back in the day, which was about $400. If the bamboos are any where near as good as my tablet, I would recommend a Wacom product.
I don't have any personal experience, but from what I've heard from people I know who have used both, Bamboo is just a toy compared to a to Graph-uos. That's why I bought the Monoprice, it was bigger and had better reviews than the Bamboo even though it's cheaper. The downside is the battery in the pen, which I don't notice but some people don't like. Also it doesn't have the "faux paper" surface that newer Wacoms have, though a lot of people have given the Intuos4 terrible reviews since it wears down the nibs in weeks or less (though I think this is more of an issue for very heavy duty users).
I like the textured surface that I first saw on the bamboo series. I never thought about the fact that it would wear down the nibs, but I would gladly sacrifice that for the better control of the textured surface. I draw on a tablet PC which is far better than drawing on a Wacom type tablet, but it's still like drawing on ice with a piece of ice. I wish I could add such a surface to my tablet PC, that would be awesome. Actually, it may be possible if I could find just the right material to overlay it.
The monoprice tablet isn't glass smooth, but it doesn't really have much of a texture. I prefer smooth paper myself (on the rare occasion I draw with traditional media) so that's probably why it doesn't bother me. It's probably about as "rough" as a piece of nice laser paper (not the cheap 20 lb copy stuff).

Monoprice has matte film screen protectors for a low price, but the biggest it looks like they have is the iPad sized. I wonder what the film actually is (just some standard clear vinyl I bet) and if you can get it in rolls. Maybe that would work, though it might mess up the sensitivity.

Sandpaper might work too. :D
Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna do some research on this and see what I can come up with.
Has anyone seen or worked with those wacom tablets 24in. ? Like the one they use on that show dream machines

I use to have a large Inuitos, the biggest one they offered (5 years ago) I switched to the medium sized one. The 5X8 (I think). I diddnt like that I had to use my whole arm to draw, I like jsut using my wrist.
