Gold Color Coming Out Orange on Print

2830 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  NoXid
I am trying to print off a gold color design, but it seems to be converting it to a orange hue instead. Any tips to lock down that true gold color?

I only have a .TIFF file to work with, I saved has PDF with no compression or conversion. Using TexPrint and a Mutoh RJ900x

Are you saying that the printout doesn't look like the color you want? If so, you'll need to press to the substrate, first, to reveal the actual color and then go from there. The printout will NOT look like the final color output. It may look dull and a different shade of that color until you press it.

Usually my printout looks just like it will once I transfer it, besides it being dull I still normally get the colors correct, but on screen it's gold, and when I print it's orange, the color tone completely changes which is unusual for us. I can't adjust colors on the art, so I was hoping maybe there was settings I could adjust? Maybe saturation or something?
The other consideration, of course, is that CMYK cannot actually print "Gold." It is the highlights, and such, included in the art that make Chrome, Gold, Silver, etc look believable to the eye.

I assume you are using a color profile specific to your inks and paper and that your monitor is reasonably accurate and/or calibrated.
