thanks guys. i did a small survey of about 50 women based on what t-shirt color they prefer to buy with graphic logos or print designs and number one was black, two white, three pink and four was light blue. again it was quite a small survey but these are what that small majority chose.
For me womens t-shirts sell three times as fast, but the percentage of sales o mens vs womens will depend on who your products appeal to. My products, (liberal and anti bush t-shirts) tend to appeal to college girls, and to a lesser degree college guys.
Also depends on what market you're targeting... you'll want the basic women's t-shirt (similar to uni-sex shirts but cut to better fit females), otherwise some kind of tank top or spaghetti string would be a good choice.
No personal experience though -- I'd be interested in some more info on this too.
