Hi all,

I run a clothing business and we are looking to get some t-shirts made up. What sort of price can I hope to aim for for low volumes of specific t-shirts (ie about 50-100 t-shirts of S,M,L and about 5 different colours?). Any recommendations on suppliers?

Thanks!

Ho do you mean, is it unlikely to get better prices than polo shirt prices? If your after t-shirts these aren't going to be priced the same as polo shirts unless a supplier is offering you rediculous prices.

What prices have you been offered so far?

Sorry, that was incredibly unclear, I meant "the price offered by polo-shirts.co.uk"!

They are one of the most over priced suppliers i've come across. I've been on their site many times to compare prices.

Ard you looking to make regular orders or is this just a one off order?

Without me going back on and doing a search for the gildan what were their prices for the quantity you required.

Thanks for your reply Dave.

They would be semi-regular, depening on how quickly batches sell! Something like once every 1/2 months. I've found a lot of places that will do ~£2 for 1-20 of a size and colour, then price breaks down from there. I'm just wondering if this is standard really.

prices for the heavy and heavy ultra vary by only approx £0.14, and the usual prices of these per tee can be anywhere from £1.48-£1.90 depending on supplier, but i have come across some suppliers selling these gildan shirts for over £2.00 single unit, and price reductions on cases?

The gildan are pretty decent tee shirts along with fruit of the loom as budget t-shirts go, but the gildan do have a funny tubular shap, and after Large size are very large compared to UK t-shirt sizes, as they are sized according to US specifications, and i#ve had a few people state about the size issues in the past...If your looking for budget tees and want to get even lower prices, i would say to look at fruit of the loom. But it really depends on if you reselling as plain shirts or printing on them, and want a more quality material/feel, which neither gildan or fruit of the loom will do. They are really just your basic budget t-shirt of a fairly reasonable quality.

I'm printing plastisol transfers onto them - I currently do the same onto Gildan Heavyweight 50/50 sweats and am very happy with the results. I'm quite keen to stay with Gildan for consistency if possible, but what would you recommend in the next price level up for a better result?

Again, many thanks for your time.

It really depends....usually people that print and start out on gildan orr fruit of the loom and want to build a brand and so moving onto better quality material and styles, would have their own bespoke/custom t-shirts manufactured. I wouldn't suggest moving from gildan onto another UK based brand likes hanes etc...everyone has their preffered choice. I also like gildan/fruit of the loom as my t-shirt prints sell for no more than £10.00, so these are perfectly adequate...but many people that come onto these forums criticise these brands for whatever reason, but that is because in their opinion, they don't live up to the quality of other branded t-shirts sold on the high street. These t-shirt retail at £30.00+ so ofcourse a £1.50 t-shirt isn't going to give you the results and finish a more styled bespoke t-shirt would.

Stick with gildan, but i would suggest researching for better prices. I actually use both shirts and we have them detagged professionally so you can't tell the brand...that way we can customise the brand according to our specifications, since 90% of people now use these brands and it's hard to set yourself apart from others if everones using the same branded t-shirt.
