Hi All,

I'm pulling the trigger on the Vastex v2000 this week. I initially looked at the 6/1 tabletop since I see the press can be upgraded to up to 10/10.

Vastex rep told me I could get a free standing 6/6 with arms removed for about $100 more and that would give me the ability to add more arms and rotate platen. Looking at the price to upgrade the tabletop I immediately saw the value in 6/6.

My issue is I'm still printing in my basement. So how difficult is it to get the v2000 from the crate into the house and down to the basement?

Vastex rep said if I take off 2 legs it will fit in the doorway but just curious if anyone else have any experience in this area.

I'm also thinking I should find 2 or 3 guys to get it down the stairs and help until I get the wheels on. I can do the rest. Although I believe it comes assembled other than the arms. Any install service in NY Long Island area

Thanks in advance.

No outside access to the basement? I’m sure you can get it down but it’ll take some work.
Do yourself a favor, leave the wheels off. It doesn’t matter how hard you lock them the machine will wobble when you rotate the head and it adds about 4” to the height.
I’m 5’10” and with wheels on it was an uncomfortable height

Nope, no outside access to the basement. I love everything else about the Townhouse just the lack of basement entry way is a number.

Thanks for the tip in the wheels. I was looking to add them since my small corner of the basement is steadily taking over. Wanted to move/toll the press out the way when not in use.

Thanks

Well, that is going to be fun :p

I would strip off all legs, so as to have a less unwieldy shape/bulk to maneuver down the stairs. Leave the shrinkwrap on that holds the heads for shipping.

As to wheels, I sourced my own (5" or 6", I think) at the local hardware store, as I need to be able to move the press out of the way a few times a year. I'm 5' 10.5", and like the height. I put a shim under one wheel to keep the press from wobbling (due to my slightly uneven garage floor).

Enjoy! These are great presses.

I'm 6' 2" so not too worried about the height. I definitely need a way to move the press when not in use.

Thanks for the tip NoXid... When I initially got the quote from Vastex I told them it was more press than I need but that price wasn't much different than the table top which when I reviewed the price list would cost significant more to upgrade so I'm going for it. Just going to have to uncrate it in the yard, break it down and make my way down the stairs

If you haven't attempted this yet, let me offer some advice. Top center of your press, there is a bolt that holds tension on the roller bearings. Remove that bolt, and the bearing, and you'll be able to lift off the entire top "Color Hub". You can then remove the next set of bearings, and finally the "Rotor Hub" with all of the arms on it. As someone else mentioned, pulling 2 legs off of the stand will help get the stand down.

We've had plenty of people disassemble and reassemble in this way for exactly this reason. Good luck!

Hi Mike,

I actually did get the press down with the help of 2 people. We took off 2 legs and took our time getting it down in the basement.

You guys built a hefty, solid press. I was expecting it in 15 days from my order but you got it to me in about a week. Awesome

If anyone wants to see how it comes off the truck check out my video: http://bit.ly/2FADrP9

Now back to drumming on more business for this bad boy.
