So I have gotten the question about how to get a image to print with the "Store brand look and feel". I am using Plasticol inks and on larger images they say the shirt is to hot to wear and the image feels printed (thicker ink). They want to know if I can get their image to look like some of the shirts at places like Target or Kohls where the images are breathable AND solid. Any ideas on this? Do i need to switch to a water based ink?

Waterbased ink will give you the best hand in terms of softness. Big solids on a dark shirt will always have some hand, even when printed on an auto, which will give you the most control over ink deposit from shirt to shirt. Plastisol inks printed through 305 mesh over a discharge underbase will give you a soft hand also, but can leave a bit of a residual sulphur smell.

Also if you're looking for a softer hand, Rutland has a Chino Base and an Opaque Chino base. We use them in our shop for "vintage" looking prints and the hand is very nice. Opacity is also very good with the Opaque Chino Base.
