Getting a New Computer

Yay. My husand is giving me a new computer that can be dedicated to the HM-1.

My question is...what is the proper way to move the Rip Pro software to the new computer? I don't think I have any validations left, because last time my computer was wiped and we reloaded everything, it used up the last validation.

TIA

You need to go to iproofsystems.com (check how many validations you have remaining)

You will need your product code from your RIP PRO Box.. you could try and call iproof to get the lost one back but cross your fingers they will.

If they do..

In RIP PRO (hopefully a computer that you have on it that was validated) > Configure > remove validation

it will give you a remove code back in iproof where you check for validations it will have one remaining validation..

then reinstall RIP PRO on your new computer and use that validation.

Hopefully, you have another computer with RIP on it because that will be helpful..if you aren't going to use for the HM-1 that's OK you can still use like we do as artwork check (it will have rip pro across it) but you can use on another computer to check to see how the image will look and not have to worry about it being plugged into the printer

So basically, you can have a validated one (for the printer) on one computer and one unvalidated on another. This helps tremendously if you are not working near the printer or at home and want to work on artwork.

The steps you do things in are VERY IMPORTANT. First thing you can do is check the remaining # of validations. Contact your distributor on how to do this.
Your process will be the same steps, but it may require you to go to a different website to access the

I would not try and get a new validation added back into your account untill you have tried to remove the validation already. The reason is because validation software will only allow you to add the last validation back into your account associated with your product code. If your distributor is able to add a validation back into your account, that will be the last one. Thus, you will not be able to remove the validation from your computer.

iProof will typically tell you to communicate with your distributor as they are not designed to handle direct customer calls for dtg RIP support. That is why they sell the RIPs through OEMs / distributors.

Please do yourself a favor and contact your machine distributor for the exact procedures. Additional validations can be added back into the account of the "orginial purchaser" only - but that comes at a cost. Don't make the mistake of trying to do it on your own and it lands up costing you additional money.

Just my opinion (since I deal with this everyday and the three different RIPs that I sell).

good point Mark, for some reason everything I need to get done is after hours or on the weekend so knock on wood everything has gone ok..

just want to let me people know its an easy process and good way to make sure you know how to check your validations.
Thanks. I have called our distributor but tech support is slow. Actually, I called them a week ago for help with an issue and they haven't called back on that, either.

Guess I go call again. That's part of why I use these forums though - seems like I can get better answers, faster. :)

I understand this, but somethings are better to have a tech support rep on the phone with you as you do it so that way you do the steps properly and don't get blamed for causing the problem - like in this case.

Hopefully, you can get this resolve soon. Best wishes,

Mark
