I've been through many inkjets in my time, and the cartridges that came with the printers were always standard: the 1/3 thing is just a sales gimmick. I've had HP, Epson, Brother, and several others....it's an urban myth born out of trying to sell additional ink.

What is annoying is the bulk of cartridges....designed to make you think they contain more than they do. The 10ml of ink takes up about 1/20 of the cartridge.....just pull one apart and have a look (empty, and over the sink....)
