Is there anyway I can use my mac with the GCC Expert 24?
Is there any software I can get that will allow me to do this from Mac OS X?

any help will be appreciated

Not directly, there are no drivers available for the GCC and Mac. You would need parallels to windows or boot camp from Apple.
I was wondering if SignCut program would do it?
This has been discussed a few times but I have not heard of anyone that actually has done it....
I emailed Signcut and asked the question and this was their reply from the support team

Yes our software will work with both your plotter and your operating system. You wiull need to find communication drivers for your plotter from your plotter dealer or use a third party adapter. For communication problems we recommend the Keyspan adapter available on Amazon for around $22 USD Tripp Lite Keyspan High-Speed USB to Serial Adapter (USA-19HS)

Can anybody else elaborate on this?

Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac - Apple Store (U.S.)

This means you need to find drivers from your plotter dealer such as GCC to run with your plotter.

GCC does not have drivers for MAC, the serial adapter is for communication from the cutter to the computer nothing at all to do with PC or Mac Drivers SignCut is a cutting software but if you don't have the driver to run the cutter then you are s.o.l.

I just visited Jeff Lee from GCC and asked about this very question, there is none in place for MAC. I do not know the future of them being available but the suggestion is to run Parallels. Search around the forums this question has been asked several times.

Thanks.
i'm abit gutted that GCC hasn't decided to develop drivers for Mac, they would pick up another big revenue to that side of the market. I've just got a Brand New GCC Plotter then collecting dust, think i'm gonna have to trade it for the Roland GX-24 or Graphtec CE5000-60. Its alot more than I was wanting to spend as I was just getting into this, but I really cannot be bothered partitioning my drive to run Windows XP, even tho my iMac will allow this.

As you put it S.O.L lol
ever thought of getting a cheap used pc laptop for the plotter
Sorry FatKat Printz missed this link when I was reading your reply

Ummm they're might be hope yet. Do you know anyone who has got this running on a Mac & what they think of it?
I might have to look around the forums on here to seek my answer.
Yes I have had the idea, but as I don't use a PC for anything in my day to day operation, and i've got 2 Macs & an ipad, A) It was another piece of added equipment I'm only going to use to vinyl cut So rathered use what I already got quickly moved thought from mind, but might have to re-consider this
Thanks.

I am sure this will sound rude so I apologize in advance.

You Mac folks think the world revolves around a Mac.....If a company thought they could make money developing stuff for Mac it would do so...But I think the reason they do not, is that there simply are not enough Macs in the world to make it worthwhile....So they do not...
One you have Mac you don't turn back!
Haha no in some ways I agree, but I find it so hard to even touch a PC
The Market has gone so much bigger for Mac in the last 5yrs
with items like ipod, iphone, ipad. Backed up by the intel chips
Reasons partly because of this, People just have switched over more than say over that period.
I really do think that GCC have not inovated themselves to the modern era where there are plotters that are recognising this niche and have developed Drivers for the macs aswell.
From what i'm reading these plotters have been on the market with success for quite a period of time, so maybe they're going with the thoughts of sticking to what they know & do best. (which I hold no grudges).
Just a shame that if your wanting to use Mac OS X that there is no viable in between for the operating software you either have to go low end or higher end
no inbetweens.

I used a Mac when I went to college and have not touched one since......So I guess I must be the exception to the rule....
GCC understands the demand for MAC drivers its not something they haven't thought about . But I can assure you without MAC drivers the company is doing very well.

Research the forums on others who successfully use the Windows program for MAC.

Other companies such as

COREL
DTG RIP SOFTWARE
SOME EMBROIDERY SOFTWARE

all successful companies that aren't Mac friendly..ie parallels or boot camp

And Apple is OBVIOUSLY doing well too. to OP...I use Bootcamp due to the fact that I have access to some PC software that I am not going to repurchase for MAC...Ex office, photoshop etc.
I am buying a new cutter next week so we'll see if it works or not. I love my Mac except for the fact that the factory installed hardrives are s#*t and die within 2 years. Otherwise I love mine.
I've managed to purchase a version of Parallels, I'm gonna see if I can ask my friend if I can try a version of Windows 7.
See if I can get any joy out doing it this way on my Mac. Hopefully I'm making head way but time will tell.
Please let us know how you make out.....I looked back over lots of threads on this subject and did not see one where there was success.....
So even by trying it this way, it still hasn't worked for people?
The thing is the plotter is brand new wrapped up & boxed. I don't want to unwrap it if its been a zero success rate doing it this way or I will loose my money.
From what I have been told, the GCC cutters will not work with a Mac. It would be interesting to see how the folks trying the Windows emulation make out..... Unfortunately I do not have anything to add to that process.
So basically even If I'm emulating Windows on my Mac through Parallels and Windows 7, then load up the GCC Drivers disk you use for windows. That This will not work? Has anybody found out why? If so seems pretty pointless application then Parallels because I got it for this exact reason? Is there anybody out there that is using a GCC Expert Cutter on a Mac that can shed some light on this?
