Hi all! My name is Scott and I'm currently researching the custom T-shirt business. I'm currently a contractor for the Army (Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt) and my contract is up at the end of September. Instead of looking for another job I've decided to try my hand at my own business...so here I am!
A little background on how I got to this decision. I took a trip to an up and coming Caribbean island (actually 2 trips in 3 months) and saw the opportunity of making custom shirts, mainly based on tourism to the island. Once I got back to the states I started researching the business and saw how big it was (and how many players are out there). Since then I've been getting as much information as possible on the business to help figure out which market segment(s) I should focus on and how I can differentiate myself from the competition. To start this will be a home based business. Depending on how well I do the sky is the limit.
I've already read many posts on here but I'm eager to learn more. My timeframe to start the business is 2-3 months and I'm starting small ($5-10k investment). I look forward to not only learning more but also give back to the custom printing community (both good and bad experiences) once my business is up and running!
