I did a simple design and separated the colors into base white, red, yellow and highlight white. Stupid me after I finalized my separations I was thinking I needed to bump up the base white. It did come out a little bright on my computer screen but I figured it wasnt going to come out like that. Well after it was printed it did come out like that.

This was the first design I did using the tricks from Mitch Different's book.

Hey Denny, You're off to a good start. It seems when I am rushed and don't have time to over analyze the art, it usually prints perfect. Sometimes my first instinct is best.

Keep up the great work!

I guess people don't like my approach where I come into a thread and show & tell how you're all "doing it wrong".

So I will try to be nicer this time.

Mitch, would you like to learn why photoshop channels is showing the whites brighter than the colors?

I understand that you are a "screenprint color separation artist who uses channels".

I am just a "screenprint color separation scientist who uses layers".

Ok?

I'm just the guy who takes a thing apart to figure out why and how it works, or why and how it doesn't actually work.

Do you want to know why channels does not work for color separation analysis/correction/adjustment?

Huhn???!! (As Mitch scratches his head)
I thought I was being very simple, and asking a simple question...

Do you want to know why you cannot trust what you see on the computer monitor when looking at channels?

It's really not a hard concept to accept once you see the evidence and proof...

But I don't want to burst your little bubble too harshly.... I will try to be gentle this time.

So, again I will ask the question...

Do you even want to know what's going on in the channels that makes it impossible to show a correct preview on the monitor?
I guess people don't like my approach...
OK. You can tell me :D.
I probably won't get it but I'll listen.
All the stuff you all have presented on color and separations has been fascinating, riveting, why-isn't-this-widely-implemented info. And it's been brought with an excitement and a passion.

Information is information. Facts are facts. How they're presented is the key. Especially if the main goal is to freely share the info and have it received.
I can prepare a delicious gourmet meal that's irresistible. But if I present it on a garbage can lid, most folk are going to turn it down.
And to use a preface like, "I guess people don't like my approach..." suggests you pretty much know how you come across to some folk.
It's like when someone says, "I don't mean to offend anyone but..." or "I don't wanna sound racist" they're aware of how they may come across.
As far as trying to be nicer, Yoda said, "Try not. Do or do not!! There is no try."

And don't pick on Mitch.

Very nicely put Tyrone.
I prefer to dine with the hungry who would dumpster-dive for a crumb.

I'm not here to make friends or give free meals on a silver platter.

In the world I live in, the homeless would take a cardboard box as a luxurious shelter, especially if given for free, corrugated or not.

I guess it is all about perspective, and it's just great to know where everyone's vantage point is. And since the vanishing point is irrefutable, the admissions of ignorance immutable, I know my work is done here now.

"Equi donati dentes non inspiciuntur."
I prefer to dine amongst those who value their gifts, give freely of those gifts and do so that there be fewer having to (and believing they have to) dumpster dive. And I do so without pretense.

I'm here and exist to make friends and forge relationships because I believe life, in whatever arena, is about relationships.

In the world I live in, the homeless (do but) shouldn't have to take a cardboard box as a luxurious shelter particularly if there are enough of those aforementioned dining partners.

Yes, it's about perspective, and it's sad to know that far too few are fully aware of their own vantage point.

The vanishing point is an illusion.

The admission of ignorance is the first step toward knowledge and enlightenment.

The job of teaching and sharing is never done unless you believe it is.

And a gift horse may not be the gift it seems to be if you have to kiss it's a-- to ride it.

Denny can you post your original image for the separation please. Also please post or provide a link to the PSD separation in channels. I think I can help with this. Its a very simple HSB/HSL mathematics separation. But channels can destroy the white base information in the color simulation and also the white highlight and what you see is not what you get.

...And has been known to pull one or two of us out of the dumpster to share a feast of freely given knowledge. So many thanks Dr. of Snakes ;)...

By the way, I think the print looks pretty awesome and will look even better on your next attempt Denny.
