I am currently a full time printer/designer now. I have been producing and editing a TV show for PBS for 3 years now and it was canceled just yesterday out of the blue. Not a good thing for current cash flow, but the way I am looking at it I can finally focus on this business now instead of just doing it on the side. Just loaded white back into my printer and I am ready to start some marketing and stocking my site with some cool stuff. Pretty pumped about it! Still got some work to do but check out some terrible grainy photos (haha) of my shop set up at the new place...

Sorry to hear about the day job. But as I have seen your artwork, it should be a good thing.

Good Luck.

Here's hoping that in the next year I can quit my day job and do this full time.

Jeff,
It is good to have many income source by working. However there is negative also which is you cannot provide 100% of your talents in one focus. Who knows it might be a your destiny and I hope it is. My understanding of you are,
Your talent of create art work is superb. Many arts we saw in this forum prove that to us.
Your creative mind cannot be value enough. Large triple size Canvas, making platen, Bar table etc.
Your perfect-ism often save you from troubles but sometimes stalling you too. White in white out, selling Neo and keeping.
Your business mind wasn't noticed by me yet. How much is Pay for Click in Google? Yahoo etc? Can't you be a AA's demo place? NeoFamily's Art Department (aggressive price and loyal to us only)? I think NeoFamily could be your good partner. Ranting~ but bottom line is I want to see your success. Best wishes.:).
Cheers! Inks are on me always.
I'm seeing this has what peter is seeing As in this was meant to be, so hit the streets running and never look back... Oh and enjoy the ride good luck...
Thanks David i appreciate it. Peter, I agree with you on those points. I knew all along that the small time TV show was holding back my other abilities with this business but I couldn't give it up because of the steady money. At the same time I bought all my equipment with my own money and then had debt so I just couldn't stop working or I was nervous I would never catch up. It has only been 1 year and 5 months since I first set up my neoflex. Now that I have all the knowledge to run it like a pro I think success is nearer. I appreciate your compliments also. I would be happy to design for others here, but being exclusive to Neofamily as a designer would probably not work just because I don't think there is enough folks here who are in need, or want to pay for art. I have looked into pay per click in google in the past but I am not sure what current prices are. I will have to put together some marketing strategies and make things happen!
Thanks Johnny I will!
Jeff,
You are asset of NeoFamily and we proud of you. Your talent can be used so many way. We just not shining up yet. Now you will work on full time which is good for us. How many school accounts do you have? I said this because teachers will appreciate your talents. Let's hit the road and enjoy the ride.
You answered on NeoFamily exclusive but i also want to be answered on demo volunteer and art work supply details. How fast how much.
I always want to make NeoFamily shirts. Help me out on this. Of course I will pay.
Canvas printing wholesale sounds very good to me.
Cheers! Inks are on me always.
congrats, Jeff on your new space/layout. while not having steady income is sometimes nerve-wracking, i know that your design abilities will propell you quite well in the garment biz. you do excellent work, and you have the best printer in DTG land! i'm rooting for you! (mainly because you are a long way from me, but also because you are NeoFamily! :D)

Thanks for the support! I shouldn't have spoken so soon I guess because I was already offered a part time job 25 hours per week editing another TV show for the next 5-7 weeks. Not sure if I am going to take it, but I think I should. Wife is in nursing school and not working much at all, I have to pay a mortgage among many other bills.
Peter, demo, yes. Let me know what it entails and details on the demo stuff. As far as art my price is now $60 per hour but within the neofamily I can keep it $50. I can usually turn around art in 1 week but sometimes a few days. It depends on what my schedule is like. I usually tell people 7-10 biz days for everything.

What is average number of hours it takes to do a job. We are interested in cool art as our Photoshop skills are just now forming.
Thx
:)
usually 3-5 for detailed art, but I do simpler designs in 1-2 that people still love
Most of the designs on my website are 3-6 hours of work. A couple are even almost 10 hours. But here is an example of a 1-2 hour job I did for free to help support the damage at the Jersey Shore...

Holy cow, I live on the Jersey Shore and must have seen over hundred designs for t-shirt, print ads, bumper stickers and even commercial's on cable. Your design is by far the best I have seen!! I will still wish you to luck jumping into DTG full time...but after seeing your work, not sure you will need it.
