Hey all,

I've been lucky enough, I think, to get the local flag football leagues business. One team went with an Augusta Jersey that they now report are tearing easily and is of concern.

I asked why he thinks they are tearing... He feels it's a combination of the rough play and material of the jersey. He confirmed he was happy with my work. I placed a call to Augusta, rep said she's never heard of such a thing (of course) and transfered me to the voice mail of product returns.

Another team had ordered a Adams jersey that has held up great. The torn jersey team now wants to order them.

First, how would you handle the situation? Second, anyone ever have this problem? If so, how did you handle? An I responsible for the jersey tearing?

Thanks.

Be sincere to the customer about the situation at hand at all times and look for ways to remedy the situation in order to keep them satisfied. (i.e. discounts) Some of the problem probably can be blamed on the quality of the fabric, but flag football is also a grabbing sport and you will see tears in pretty much any fabric you use.

I always sell Augusta as my economy line of uniforms. 95% of the time I don't have problems with them. But I try to let me clients know this upfront so in the cases where I do have quality issues they knew upfront what they were getting. In some sense you have to be responsible of the quality of the products you provide. There are some products that I have had experience with that I don't offer anymore due to this same situation. My most recent was fitted caps - the sizing was inconsistent - we ate some money on that deal and I have decided not to offer those caps any longer.

In this situation since just to make the client happy I would try to get them replacement jerseys at cost - especially if it's a new client and a new organization. You may lose some money in time but word of mouth will bring in more than enough business to cover that.

I am having the same problem on football jerseys made of "steelmesh". Well, 1st game the quarterbacks home & away jersey ripped @ the collar and now a couple of the other jerseys are doing the same thing. I called the company I ordered them from and they don't guarantee anything! However, I have been searching the net and seen a couple of companies that have a "lifetime" guarantee on their custom made jerseys. I'll keep you posted as soon as I get more info from them.
