Flooding issue

Hi,
so I've being trying to screen print a couple of weeks now, it goes ok until the screen starts to get dry, so only the first couple turn out perfectly, then it goes downhill from there.
I discovered the problem was I'm not flooding my screen, but I've tried that, I was gentle, probably more so than any youtube video I watched and I carefully flooded the screen,
The first go was a mess, some ink had come through the mesh, I carefully wiped it away, and watched the underside of screen while I flooded, and however gentle I seem to be I can't prevent some ink from passing through, which of course makes nasty blotchy details.
Any help or advice would be great, I'm starting to think screen printing isn't for me!
Thanks, Mark

What ink are you using and what is your mesh count?

My guess is that your mesh is way too open for the viscosity of the ink you are using.

Hi,
my screen mesh is 43t (110 US), and the ink is Jacquard Versatex Screen Printing Ink.
Thanks so much for your help,
Mark.
Yeah, 110 is way too open for water base inks. 156/160 might work for you, but I prefer higher mesh counts as they provide more control. I use 200, which is not to say that is what will work best for you.

This link has some general recommendations. Note that in some places it refers specifically to Plastisol and others others to water base ... when they don't specify, punt or assume they mean Plastisol.

Oh that's extremely kind of you to share that info with me.
Can I just check though, as long as it's flooded, with a finer mesh you dont think i'll suffer any major drying issues as long as I flood?
Thanks so much for your kind help.
