I have a 3x6 cap press by tgt which recently started smoking above the platen. I took it apart and the wires and wire shields look melted. One of the screws which attach the wire to the platen is rusted and immediately broke as well. I figured that instead of fixing the platen, that i would try to convert it to a flat platen so I can use it for above the heart transfers for tshirts.
I would also like to replace the wire with a thicker gauge as well as the shielding (teflon?).
Does anyone know where i can purchase a small flat platen and base to convert it? where can I get the shielding for the wire as well? Its a tgt press, but i cannot find it anywhere online.
