Hello, This is my first post! Thanks for all the great threads already started. I found every answer I searched for and some! The 'search' on this website works great by the way.

So, Im 25 years old. Ive been wanting to make t-shirts since high school and now I've finally done it. I wanted to keep it all in house, no overhead, limited edition, usa made t-shirts that I'm proud to wear. Over the years Ive been taking notes as to what t-shirts fit me the best, witch style of logos stand the test of time, witch companies are successful and why.

So now I am a full time artist (painter), and the goal is having these t-shirts bring in some "steady" monthly income. I released my first shirt about a month ago, only printed 25. I sold more than half to mostly to friends and family. I recieved a lot of compliments, even just wearing them around town. So I built a website, etsy page, facebook, blog, and doing a little word of mouth advertising. After reading some feedback you guys gave another member of the forum I think I need to make it clear what Natural Minds is about. (Its about Art, Nature, and Bmx, skate, Etc.) I want to add some commercials in the future that Ill host on youtube. I have some models lined up for the next shirts if I want....

So my question, is you do you guys think I'm on the right route? Should I lower profits and just try to get my shirts into skate shops etc? Could I exist on solely on the internet? If so, how could I do it better? Also, you may notice that I didnt include my company name on my shirts. I don't plan to have shirts with just a name on it. I want it to be art not a walking billboard.... Oh yea. heres the link www.allnaturalminds.com

I checked out your site... I really like your art! You're logo is great.
checked out your site, looking good! very nice art and great logo for your brand.

you're on the right route.
lower profits to get into shops?... i wouldn't recommend that. instead you could try consignment or offer a package deal on the first order.

you should consider having your branding on the shirt, a custom printed neck label would good. you don't need to have shirts with just the brand name but you should think of your brand much like a gallery. sort of like, this design is brought to you by allnaturalminds, so people know where they can find more.
Red- Thanks! Consignment sounds good. Would the shop most likely just want a percentage of the overall sale? Say like 25%-%50?

I really like the tag idea but I currently use American Apparel and they come with a tag. Could you recommend a similar Usa Made shirt without a tag?

another option is to put the tag (maybe the logo with the website name) at another location, like on the sleeve, back neck or on the side/bottom.

the way i did consignment to get started was work closely with the shop (consignment is best to do locally so you can physically go and check the stock). The terms we worked out (ended up doing this with 5 local shops) was they would pay for the goods they sold after two weeks (most stock was sold within the two weeks). Whatever items sold, they would pay for them at the end of the two weeks.
This takes allot of work from you, you have to keep track of what you gave them and what they sold as well as visit the stores often to stay on top of the consignment.
