I have my first order to do vinyl lettering for a boat name and I have a couple of questions:

1. Which brand/grade do you recommend for marine applications? Fresh water. I have ordered Oracle 951.

2. I will not be doing the application, only cutting the lettering, the service shop will apply. How much should I charge for just cutting it out and getting it ready with transfer tape? Ballpark estimated area of up to 16" tall x 36" wide.

Your help is much appreciated!

So your talking a boat name applied on the transom I would guess by the dimensions, 951 should be fine (I pity the person in a couple years who tries to remove it LOL!) depending on the font and complexity of the design we would charge between $50-$100 for the graphic.

I know you said the shop was going to install it which is fine as long as the surface is prep'd correctly (clean) if it's a new paint job on the boat you'll want to make sure the paint has had enough time to cure (out gas) fully before they apply it.

Hope this helps

Yes, it sure does help, thanks. And yes, applied to the transom. The font will more than likely be a block style letter.

Is there another vinyl you would recommend, as you say that this one will be difficult to remove later?

Nope....in fact it's what I would use, it's not our concern how difficult it is to remove down the road, only that it stays on the boat which that vinyl will do very well.

It can be removed with a heat gun and elbow grease, then some paint thinner to remove the adhesive left behind.

Hope this helps.
