I had a strange issue. If i print an image, then it look's like two image (like shaking the printer). I cleaned and replaced the encoder strip, but the problem still the same...

I also tried print with uni-directional mode, without luck...

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried running the print head alignment utility?
Yes, but it print doubled numbers and lines, so i can't see the correct lines (it did the same before, but the image was ok).
Is it printing double image from left to right or top to bottom? If its left to right then it is the encoder strip but top to bottom will mean something is wrong with the encoder wheel. If you take the left panel off, opposite of the control panel, you will see the encoder wheel disk. Clean it and the sensor with an alcohol pad and make sure the wheel isn't rubbing on the sensor by moving the bed in and out manually with your hand to spin the wheel. Also the light on the sensor should pass through the greyish outside part of the wheel.
I attached two image. First one is before head alignment, the second one is after alignment.

I never met the same issue before.

I circled the part, where could seen the issue. On the first one the abnormal grey area is just the back of the paper (i have small quentity of paper yet, so every sheet is priceless. :)).

Hi Tib,

I didn't see your email -- could you please PM it to me?

Alex
It took me 1 week to replace the full upper part of the printer. I had several other 2100 printer for replacement. I changed head cable too, but the issue is still the same. Horizontally shadowed image. :S

It's very annoying!!!

What else could cause this issue? I didn't change the printhead and the encoder wheel.

Please do a nozzle check and post a picture of how it looks.

Turn off bidirectional printing, that should fix that double image.
I turned off bi-directional printing in fast rip, and also i tried turn off in multirip, too.

I attached a nozzle check print. I printed it a few weeks ago, because now i removed the printhed while i not use the printer. A printhead is okay, so please not say that problem with the magenta, because it not a very cool nozle check (i not found the nozzle check that i print after a few cleaning cycles). You see, that the shadowing print appear on the text, too.

Really looks like a printhead alignment issue...

Have you tried cleaning the printhead carriage belt? They tend to get gunk
on the gear and sometimes cause rainbows on the shirts as well.

I changed the full upper part of the printer, including the carriage belt, carriage assy, carriage moving electric engine. Everything. :S

I have 3 other Epson printer for replacement parts!

This issue is started suddenly. I'm not print very lot yet, but soon it,will be needed. If no other option, Then I remove the eprom chip and I place another board. I have no other idea.

I've seen this many times with a nozzle check like that. You need to try to run a print head alignment using the epson adjustment program. If that doesn't work then you will need to replace the print head.
I tried alignment from the driver, but not changed anything.

I have the adjusment software also, but i think I not found that menu point.

It's not a very used printhead.

Best way to do the alignment test is through the epson adjustment program. Also, even though the print head hasn't been used much it could still be the issue.

Judging from the nozzle check you posted I would agree that it appears the printhead is on it's way out and probably should be replaced. The age of the printhead matters less then how it is maintained and the environment (humidity and heat) it is kept in.

If the humidity goes under 40%, I always start the humidifier. The printer in the house, I haven't got climatic utility for the summer heat, I always open the window.

I met only clogged printheads, but it's not clogged (the nozzle check is not shadowed, only the text under it).

I saw R2100 printer that many years old, and it's working. Usually these printers not used for a long time ago, but working! Peoples not maintain them, and they're working.

I don't know, but it's very strange...

The inks you are using are waterbased textile inks that are very different from the inks used in paper inkjet printers.
