Hello. I am very new to sublimation. I have the 3110dn. I am printing phone cases no problem. They are coming out bright and I love them.

But when I try to sublimate shirts or polyester ribbon, it is so dull. The ink is not transferring.

I was told by my Conde rep to press at 385 for 45-60 seconds. I am prepressing for about 8 seconds. Still, the ink is not transferring. When I talked to the tech today, he set up basic settings and said they should work. Its not working. Cases are still fine.

Help!!

Are your shirts 100% poly? If your ribbons are poly they should sub OK.

Yes, the shirts are vapor apparel. The ribbon is poly. It seems a lot of ink is left on the transfer after pressing.
What paper are you using? Is it possible that for the phone cases you printed on one side of the paper and then somehow used the other side for the fabric items? The correct side is the "whitest" white side. The other side has poor release.

All your press settings appear to be in the correct general range. Vapors Apparels sub and image nice. It's normal for the ink to remain on the paper though, it's not ink that goes on the substrate, the ink releases it's dye in a gas form then bonds to the substrate during cool down. After transfer the image will still be on the paper but look weaker afterwards.

I am using paper from Conde. It is InkJet Sub Paper. I was told it would work great for phone cases and apparel.

I am doing something wrong, but can't figure it out. I even double-checked to see if I had the paper turned over wrong (would not surprise me), but I had it right.

Are you changing any paper settings in the printer driver when you print phone case vs fabric?

Conde doesn't use SG Power Driver and uses ICC's alone, whereas Power Driver had some presets for different substrates.

No, I asked the tech when he was setting up the computer/program remotely. And he said it would work great for both. I guess I better call back. Thanks so much for your replies.
