Error light

The machine starts fine in the eject mode. Once it settles into the load position, it begins cycling again as it did on start up. The print head goes almost to the back side, pauses for about 15 seconds, and comes back. Then goes across, comes back and gives an error light.
The encoder strip is clean and the drive belt is tight.

Have you tried a hard reset. Turn Power off and unplug completly including USB let sit for 15 min or so and then plug everything back in and turn on. Just the error light? Try to push or pull on the bed slightly, not to hard after it settles in and generates the error light. Normally I would say this indicates a dirty or bad encoder strip. But?

Tried your suggestion but got the same error light. I will have to order encoder strip. It has been awhile since I replaced one and I took it out to clean it - is the notch at the end up or down?
Let me check when i get back at the shop.

Check and inspect the ribbon cables going into the print head for damage. Wear on insulation / kinks / tears / burn marks. What you are describing suggests a damaged ribbon cable.

You're in good hands now with Harry.
Checked my encoder strip that I had put back on and of course withh a 50/50 chance of getting it right - it was on upside down. What's interesting is I got the same results with the error light with the encoder strip in both positions. I think that would eliminate the encoder strip as the problem.
Going to check my ribbon cable.
Thanks for the help
while it maybe a burned ribbon cable especially if the problem occured right after you changed heads or cleaned the head or area with fluid. It also could be a loose ribbon cable connection on the board. Prepare for the worst and pray for the best.
