hi guys, need help!!!

refurbished 3 Fast T jet 2 this week. Two of them went pretty good. Third one makes troubles. He had this issue before i start to refurbish it.
I change Encoder Strip, Ribbon Cable, Capping Station.
When i power up the machine the carriage drives one time very slowly to the left, then fast back, then 2 times a little bit faster to the left and back. Then the carriage stops over the capping station and the Error Ink lights flashing. Sometimes (one out of ten start ups) the printer starts normal with a head cleaning but in the middle of the headcleaning he stops and the error eject light flashes again...usually i would say its the encoder strip but its a new one with no scratches.

could this be a motherboard problem? i have a second one here and changed it. But same problem. But i dont know if the second motherboard works, its a old one as well.

any help pleeeassse!!!

thx

On the left hand side of the printer.. May need to remove the cover. There is a white wheel that guides the printer.

Gently clean this and look for a small plug with a little board on it. Look to see if there is any damage.

Does the Epson status monitor give you any error codes?

Maybe I could help you. I met this issue several times.

On the front line (the thing where the head moves - shiny metal thing), on the left, or right where it connects to the Frame, there are metal flats. The metal flats not in the correct position, or missing! If you had two other, Then look them! This cause similar problems, that you told. Sometimes it starts good, but usually not!

Ok i cleaned the pf sensor and the wheel. also checked the metal flats, all 4 in position. But as i checked the load and eject funkction i recognized 2 of this plastic wheels are missing and the load function goes not all the way its stops in the middle an the load butten starts flashing in addition to the already flashing error eject button.

Is this one problome or is this a second problem? I mean the printer cant know when he starts up that the load function does not work, or am i wrong?

Does sound like a mainboard problem when it starts up like this. I experienced the same issue a couple months ago refurbishing a tjet 2 myself. It would also sometimes start up doing a head cleaning. What was going on was the blue spikey eprom chip on the board was loose and the gold connectors were not making contact. Double check that.

Ok i checked the Mainboard very well. Looks goog so far. ALso replaced the printhead.
The carriage assembly (the thing which mobes the printhead from right to left) makes weird moves now. When i start the prtiner up the assembly starts movin to the left but after like 15 cm it slows down and starts to bucking a little about 20 cm then the assembly goes the rest of the rail very normal, when it comes back at the same place the assambly starts to bucking again... always on the same place. I cleaned the rails... nothing changed... after a few times the carriage maves left to right it stops at the place where it makes stranges moves and error eject und all ink lights are flashing again...what can be the problem now?

Oil the rails
Clean the gear that the head drive belt attaches to
Tighten that same drive belt - requires removing case
Replace spring on encoder strip
Clean sensor that encoders strips slides through - use a can of compressed air

If you do all of this in combination with what you have already done, then I am at a loss, unless both motherboards happened to be bad.
