I bought an epson c84 from a yard sale and the guy told me that he had not used it for two years. When I printed an image the black printed fine but no color came out. I ran the head cleaning a few times but only got one color to show just a bit during test. The inks are just about full. Is there a way to remove the head for manual cleaning as the printer did not come with a book. Or is there anything else I should do?

Thanks
paul

You bought a printer that had not been used for 2 years ? Bad move - epson inkjets in their virgin state with shipping fluid in the heads hardly last that long, never mind a print head with inks in it.

You can try to soak the heads in cleaning fluid for 10 days. If nothing clears, you can toss the printer.
As for removing the head, the problem is that the head electronics are part of the same assembly as the head, and you cannot separate the 2.
We've tried putting heads into ultrasonic cleaners, but no joy - have never been able to unblock it any more effectively than just inkjecting cleaning fluid in the heads and leaving it for 2 weeks....
