has anyone used the new epson 7010 ? i am considering buying 1. Also i am not to computer savvy or mechanically inclined. that said I have a new epson 1100 but would want to switch to bulk system for sublimation. Is this a major project, or can a dummy do it. I have talked to Cobra about the ciss with the 7010 and can get the printer ready to print for about 350 including shipping. Another call to cobra and they can set my 1100 up with their bulk system for 160. Is that a better way to go? Thanks for any help

I just got a 7010 last week, because I couldnt find any 1100s for less than $290 wth? The 2 1100s we already have were almost half that price when we bought them.

Anyway... My biggest problem so are with the 7010, is if your cartridge runs out mid print, it spits your paper out, and starts again with a new sheet once the cartridge is replaced. Im sure most of you know, the 1100 will pause, let you change the cart, and finish the print once your done. Sure wish 7010 did that... When you print 150 transfers in a run, your bound to have some empties along the way.

We use sublimation ink that we get from a seller named dinsink on amazon. Works great, and is the cheapest I have found.

We ran into another problem with the 7010. We were using both the 7010 and one of our older 1100s to print sublimation transfers. The prints from the 7010 were always much lighter in color than the ones from the 1100, could not find a setting to make it print just like the 1100... So, we did some cartridge cleaning, and turned the other older 1100 into a sublimation printer, and started using the 7010 as a film printer... Have yet to print any films with it.

I've also found the 7010 prints a bit lighter, but not "much" lighter. It's most noticeable on art that's already light.

On my particular system and inks, I actually get more color-accurate results not using a custom ICC profile when printing artwork (I use one when printing bolder colors and designs, on fabric and hard surfaces). So when not printing with a profile I can use the Epson color control features, increasing -- or decreasing -- brightness, saturation, etc., plus tweaking colors. I have to do this on some artwork because the files I receive are uncalibrated, and colors default to the standard Photoshop profile.

Some of Richard's profiles are a bit too blue for my taste (and color charts), so I usually end up knocking that down in software to compensate.

You need an ICC profile if you sublimate, that is your "lighter in color" problem.

Hello I am very confused about ink for the epson 7010.
I am looking for sublimation ink. Is it best to get refillable cartridges
and refill the with sublimation ink? Which ink is the best quality?
Where should I get the cartridges? If you know of any ink or place
please post the url.

I am on my 5th Epson 7010 in a matter of months. I would love to know if there is a problem with these or if I am missing something with maintenance. I have Cobra ink, CIS system. I love it when I first start. About 1-2 months in... All of sudden I have colors start banding and then not print at all. Head cleanings not working. In my last printer the print head was busted and Cobra is keeping it. I now have 1 of mine back and one of their loaner printers and BOTH are not printing certain colors (seems to be the same color tones) and the blue tints have that halo or over spray. I have Cobra's profiles installed. I have uninstalled the printer software and reloaded to align print heads and do a software update. I am so confused. I have had nothing, but problems since I started sublimation last July. Am I missing an obvious newbie problem that just keeps happening and I just don't know how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am desperate. 5 printers within months is nuts!

TY in advance,
Allison
