Epson 4800 head clog after changing to dye based black in all channels?

Hey guys,

I need some advice ASAP. Hoping that someone on here can help me out!

I've recently bought an Epson 4800. After doing a lot of research on the best way to set it up for film positives I decided to source some refillable cartridges and black dye based ink.

The printed previously had the original pigment ink in it (which worked fine before switching over). I filled all my cartridges with the black ink, placed them in and performed a power clean to push the dye ink into the system. After doing this the printer does not print any image whatsoever. Has something gone wrong with the two inks mixing? What can be done to fix this?

Hope someone has some answers for me

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Did you print a nozzle check? Or did you start printing right away?
I second that did you receive syringes with your ink kit ?

If you can't get a nozzle check I would stop trying to print and make sure you syringe the air out of the lines.

This is something you can't let sit for a long period of time you can damage your printhead.
I didn't receive a syringe with my cartridges. I saw a video where they had used a paper clip to purge the ink out. This is what I did. I did try to use a syringe but there is a steel ball inside the cartridge that is in the way. I could see the lines filled with the black ink, could the air still be a problem?

Nozzle check??
Sorry I should have verified. What I am trying to print is the nozzle check page and nothing seems to print. The print head goes across twice and just shoots the paper out.
Does the Epson Status monitor say there is ink ?
It does. I have only just filled these cartridges and used the chip resetter so they are at 100%

Do you have these types of syringes? These are the best of carts.

Cobra carries them "blow out syringes"

.:: Cobra Ink Systems::. This is where the term CIS began
I have actually. I've just tried purging the cartridges again and came up with the same problem. I lifted the top cover to see what was going on and now I am getting a "001001d" requires maintenance message. it makes a big screech when I turn it on now too
