You have to run some type of fluid through the printer or you will destroy your print head. Periodically, the Epson firmware will have the print head spit into the capping station to make sure all the nozzles are firing correctly. You will be better off getting refill cartridges and putting cleaning fluid or distilled water (not tap or drinking water) in them. Most dye sub, inkjet transfers or screen printing distributors can get the 4800 refill cartridges. If you can't find one close to you, then you can check with www.dtginks.com as the are located in Northern CA.
