If for some reason you got cartridges without the upgraded chips they won't work. Do you have the software installed and in the epson monitor it says no cartridges installed or does it say incompatable cartridges.

Then you need to contact ryonet. The carts don't have upgraded chips. Unless you have them in wrong spots.

Yes but I know some say not to I personally have not tried the 1430 yet waiting on my new chips for my Ciss unit. According the my supplier it doesn't matter whether you put the OEM inks or not

I purchase blackmaxx in bulk from Ryonet. $130. Get a ciss from hotzone360 or aaadealalways eBay user. Empty they are about $35. And for any one that will tell you a ciss will cause your printer to clog over refillables. Ignore them. Unless a ciss has a leak there is no more of a chance of a clog than with refillables or OEM cartridges. Contact them first he has them empty say for pigment or dye sub only but I use the same one on 2 diffrent 1400 for years without issue.

You would need to return the carts if you go the ciss route. My guess is that your carts dont contain the newer chips Epson upgraded most printer to try and combat using non OEM inks.

I hate this printer!! I had a 1400 with a bulk ink system I purchased from Lawson. Never had any issues with it until it died after about a year and a half. Lawson said the 1400 can't be reset. I purchased the 1430 from Lawson with a new bulk ink system because the bulk ink system that I had just bought a year and a half ago for the 1400 would not work with the 1430. The 1430 continually has to be reset, it stops printing in the middle of a piece of film, I continually have to turn it off and back on as the red jam light continually comes on despite it not being jammed. The bulk ink system continually gets the tubes hung up on the printhead despite putting the tubes paralell to the print head tubes as instructed by the manufacturer. I also purchased the Power Rip Software form Lawson when i purchased the 1430. It continually crashes at least 2-3 times per day. I guess because I am running Windows 8. I specifically asked if it would work with Windows 8 and was told it would. I really struck out on all 3 fronts with this purchase. I would NOT purchase this printer for printing film!!!

The problems are with your ciss and not the printer. There are very few ciss and refillable's that don't cause a problem in this printer. This printer is the 1400 with wireless. I have the 1430 for my back up and it
Prints great with cobra cartridges. Before that I was just about to throw it out the window cause I had a ciss off eBay that acted very simular to your issues. Of course there is also the possibility of a bad printer. FYI the 1400 can be reset and you can download utility directly from epson website. At that time it is advisable to put a waste ink tank on or replace the pad.
