Epson 1430 all black cartridges. Light Cyan and Light Magenta not used?

I am using refillable carts in my 1430 with black ink in all the carts. I'm noticing that when I print my film positives (I print out of Photoshop in CMYK mode with all CMYK layers for max ink deposit), the Light Cyan and Light Magenta carts do not seem to be getting used. Obviously, my CMYK file does not contain a Light Cyan or Light Magenta channel - so is that why they're not getting called on?

When I go to refill my carts, I find the 4 carts CMYK have gone down in levels but the LC, LM have not.

My 1400 the CMYK all go at the same rate. The Lm and Lc go at about 1/2 of the rate of all the others.

What program are you printing from. Make sure your printing from a CMYK mode image.

As I said in my original post, I am using Photoshop and working in CMYK mode when printing.
From my understanding the only way to use all 6 cartridges is to use a RIP software otherwise your printer will never use more than 4 cartridges at once. The Epson 1400 (and I assume 1430) will use CMYK for regular paper printing and it will use LC,LM,Y,K when doing high quality prints(Photo or Photo RPM after selecting a photo paper option).
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I recall this from researching the printer and how to maintain the printheads by printing test images. Many sites will say to print the test image twice (once in paper mode and the other in photo mode to make sure all print heads get used)
I did miss the CMYK mode. Are you printing like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_bo649DtDM start at 2:20 for Photoshop

yes, each film positive has a black and white image where black is at 100% CMY and K and that is duplicated on each channel. So 100% C, 100% M, 100%Y, 100%K.
Send that through the printer so it's not just the black channel with the image.
Seems like this sends the printer the instructions to print 100% out of all 4 carts but leaves out the LM, LC carts.
I heard the 1430 print engine was altered slightly. My 1400 uses the Lm and Lc from printing 100% CMYK.

How about making a Lc and ml mask layer?
I use my 1430 almost exclusively for printing screens. I go through alot more black but the other cartridges have been getting used up pretty evenly. What are your settings?
