Ok just processed my first screen with the new refill system. It worked perfect and was very easy to install. I dumped all of the color ink into a bucket and mixed it and then poured it in to the bottle of black ink. Took me probably 10 mins to do the complete change over.

I am using accurip and the "all black" setting... the film was completely dark and had zero problems washing out. Here are the links to the setup I purchased for a crazy $30 total.

Refillable ink cartridge for EPSON Stylus 1400 79 - eBay (item 140424008563 end time Aug-04-10 01:32:56 PDT)

Bulk black refill ink for Epson Stylus 1400 R380 RX595 - eBay (item 130405385055 end time Jul-29-10 23:03:16 PDT)

Both shipped same day ordered, priority mail, from double2ink.

I also purchased the 1400 refill set and you can't even tell the difference from the Epson ink. Since I've purchased it, I've printed about 200 transparencies and my ink tanks have barely moved, whereas the epson cartridges would've had to have been refilled thrice. Refill is the way to go!!

RideOutWear, I think he meant that he dumped all of the colors in a bucket and added a bottle of black and that turned the whole bucket black.

On a separate issue, I already have an Epson 1400 with a CISS Pigment ink system and but every time I try to print transparencies it prints them fine about halfway through then messes up. I was reading here on the forum that you tape a piece of paper on the back and you can trick the unit into printing a transparency. Haven't tried it yet though. However the 1/2 transparency that did print looked awesome.

Would this work if I taped paper to the back?

Is it possible to buy the replaceable ink system and switch them?

Or would the multi color pigment ink work well?

I do still use the printer to print transfers so the all black wouldn't work.

Thanks for your input, Bill

So basically the film is not being picked up by the printer halfway through the print and it is just spitting it out and telling you that it is out of paper?

I have 2 1400's and one is used only for sublimation ink.
Has anyone every changed out from an all black set up to a regular OEM set up. back and forth?
I was to have the all black system but my wife wants color for some of her projects...Or should I just get a 3rd printer.
