Epson 1100 Ink not printing

1966 Views 11 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  crowsmack
I love my epson 1100 setup for sublimation. About a month ago I started to experience dripping, puddling and colors not printing. Contant priming would sometimes help, but I still had a lot of issues. I just replaced the tank portion of my system, and the drips and smudges seems to have cleared up and all the colors are functioning well.

My issue is I cannot get my black to print (I think it is just one of the tanks). I have primed and primed and done head cleaning, but with no solution. I've attached a pic, the "B" is supposed to be solid black.

Ideas? Thanks!!

Is the outline of the "B" a different color other than black. If black was clogged the outline should not print.
I'm pretty certain it is pulling from a black tank. There are two black tanks, so I'm supposing that just one is having issues?
Looks like black isn't functioning at all. Other colors still working great.
Hi did you solve this problem as I too am having the same problem every other colour works great just not black

On the WF1100 In your nozzle check there will be 2 black pattern "blocks", one for each black print head, the CMY is the 3rd pattern block. If one head has trouble you can easily see it.

See the 4 color purge file from this zip archive ..

After your head clean, if still not working well print a few purge files or you can crop out individual colors in the CMYK file to get a pure color (like black) to purge.
Thanks for the helpful info! Cobra sent me a new print head which totally fixed my problem. I just have to always turn off the printer and use it often.

You changed the printhead or the black cart for the CIS? Changing a printhead is big ordeal.
I'm not sure if I'm using the right term- the plastic tanks that go inside the printer, that is what i changed. It was hard, the tubes did not come out easily and the plastic brackets holding them on snapped into pieces. Bring on the miracle of super glue.

That's what I thought. Those substitute for the regular carts.

For future reference suggest to at least keep a set of OEM cart or refillable carts so that you can use for later troubleshooting.

If you have a problem with one color then you can substitute your OEM cart set into the printer, if the color lost before returns back, then it is a CIS problem. This can isolate the problem as being either at the printer or the CIS, using known good carts.
I know the problem was with the printer. I had horrible "splattering" as well before I got things changed out. Yup, I'm probably going to order a whole back-up system to keep on hand, prob even a printer too.
