Is it best to use a emulsion scoop coater to apply emulsion to a screen? Any other ideas?

I'd say other than capillary film, which gives the most even and consistent emulsion, using a scoop coater is the way to go. It's not difficult to use and does not make a mess as some would have you believe. There are videos on Youtube on how to coat a screen with a coater. You can make one out of angle iron and there are many suggestions on how many coats to give a screen and on what side(s).

I remenbef the first time I coated a screen, I did not have a "darkroom" or even a yellow bulb. I was i. My batbroom with my phone and a yellow light app to give off a lil light. The bathroom was a small balf bath so I had no counter space. Long story short the bucket of emulsion fell from the counter I trided to catch it dropping the pho.e I had in my mouth, then slipped in the emulsion and I fell. I turned on the lights and I had pink **** everywhere. My phone was coated perfectly, walks floor and all over clothes.

I must be a natural. After watching a bunch of YouTube I got my emulsion on my screen the right way the first time without the huge mess others have had. I just needed to adjust my exposure times to get an easy washout when I did my first detailed print with liquid emulsion.
Well I am real good now, my.problem was the.small area and lack of cou.ter space. I will say a,took me 3 times to learn how to coat a screen.
