I am basing this question on applying these products to 100% cotton material.

I have been using both products with pretty good results. Actually, excellent results with the Eco-film. The thing I notice though is that after pressing the eco-film the clear mylar cover practically lifts right off the material, perfect... does not stick to the cotton.

When using the thermoflex, it is very difficult to pull it up without sometimes lifting the thermoflex material back up, the clear mylar really sticks to the cotton fabric. It is recommended to remove the clear mylar 'COOL' which I do. Have tried it 'Hot to Warm' and the thermoflex tends to lift off the material very easily.

Now, the other day I applied some thermoflex to some 50/50 material (cotton/poly) and just for the heck of it I immediately attempted to remove the clear mylar and it lifted right up, just like the eco-film. The thermoflex stuck very well.

My question, is there a trick to applying thermoflex to 100% cotton of is that just the way it is.

Thanks
Mike

I have not encountered this specifically with the ThermoFlex "Plus" product.

One possibility is that you are cutting too deep to the point of cutting into the backing. Can you confirm if that is happening? A rule of thumb is to only score the backing.

Also, try a warm peel instead of cold. Make sure to hold down the garment with one hand as you're pulling off the backing with the other hand, in one smooth motion. I forgot to mention to make sure your other settings are correct, time, temp and pressure when pressing to 100% cotton.

I use Thermoflex quite often, and for the very reason you mention, I usually peel it warm.

After the press, I just rub it down with a wash cloth for a few seconds, and peel.

I don't get concerned if the fabric stretchs a little when I'm pulling it off because I always do a second press for 5 seconds. At that point, I can smooth the fabric back into place.

Also, I don't notice it so much on over hear designs...it's large designs on tees where I notice it.
