Hi all. I'm fairly new to sublimation and have been working through many of my issues. However, I'm still fighting one -- I'm getting a permanent line from the heat press platen (toward the bottom of the shirt) on microfiber shirts. It's NOT from the transfer paper; I'm using the Vapor Foam kit with good results there. It's coming from the heat press itself.

I'm using minimal pressure as it is and I don't think I can reduce that any more without sacrificing the vibrancy of the art.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

If you have an impression from heat platen - the pressure is probably still a bit too high for a garment rasied by the foam. Have you tried shifting the foam so it's away from the edge of the press? If the foam insert is a couple of cm smaller than the platen size you shouldn't have any impressions left as the edge of the platen will not dig into the foam.

When using very light pressure I'd recommend securing the transfer with a bit of tacky spray or use tacky paper to avoid any shifting of transfer, ghosting, etc.

Once you wash and wear the t-shirt or your customers washes and wears it, the line should go away.

It's not ink right, just am impression?
50/50 or 100% cotton shirts will usually go away from washing (from other transfer methods of course).

Most poly shirts I have tried you end up with a permanent crease after washing. I haven't tried all brands though, but most of the US sold brands. Softlinks (when they were available) seemed to be more forgiving.

I use big mousepads cut to different sizes then make sure my transfer paper is larger than the pad.

If you know of a brand that won't leave a permanent crease it would be good to know, I hate stuffing large mousepads into sublimation shirts.
