dye sub application issue

Hello,

I am quite new to the whole dye sub business and indeed any t shirt application process, so please go easy on me - have contacted a few people but thought I'd introduce myself here and ask a general question since trying to print on t shirts...(I am working with all types of poly cotton mix t shirts from 50-50 and upwards in terms of how much polyester)

I recently purchased some TexPrint-R paper for use with my newly purchased Ricoh GX3300n printer to do dye sublimation on t shirts. However, I discovered that when using it on the heat press only a rather ghostly yellow image is printed and I am completely unsure as to why. Now I am aware that this should not happen and I have played with the pressure on my heat press and and heating at roughly 200 degrees Celsius and doing everything that I have read online. I am quite new to this process also and have researched extensively and I am completely dumbfounded as to what to do. I am using the inks that came with the Ricoh printer, I am now wondering are these inks not sublimation inks? I bought some (what I believe to be sublimation) inks on a website especially for ricoh printers, however on a closer inspection they appear to be exactly the same.

I was wondering if you could help me with exactly what to do and if there is anything that I am missing? Any help as quick as you can manage it would be highly appreciative!

I am completely stuck, urgent help for my poor brain!

Hi,
It is very likely that your ink is not the right type for sublimation.

I have had the same result when using non sublimation inks.

It is highly likely you are not using sublimation inks or that you have loaded your OEM inks first and then loaded Sublimation inks without flushing/cleaning your printer tubes properly.

Post a picture of your result so we can confirm the problem.
I don't think dye sub works on blends, only 100% polyester...
As stated..it could be non sub ink.....OR printing on wrong side of paper..if there is no print on the paper...moisten your finger/thumb..and print on the slightly sticky side...or on the whitest side.

Also sublimation will NOT bond with cotton...any part of ink on the cotton fibers will wash out

Dye sublimation will work on blends. It simply will not dye the non-poly fibers leaving you with less vividness in your finished product.

Many of our clients desire this look for their artwork. The less poly you have in the garment, the more vintage/worn the apparel will look. 50/50 is about the limit for a quality retail product I.M.O.

You need 100% Polyester t-shirts or garments. For mugs you need Sublimation Coated Mugs.

I'm having the same ghostly yellow residue on my shirts especially visible on white. Using Ricoh gxe7700n with sublijet inks on texprint-r paper. Geoknight press on 395 for 40 sec press medium pressure. I get my nice printed image but the paper is leaving the yellow residue behind as well. Currently working with Conde systems to figure it out. Did a meat thermometer test to be sure the dk20s temp was right and it was dead on. I think the paper is faulty as it turns the white print side a hazy yellow after the press is completed. Been heat pressing for 5 years and have never had this problem.
Well Andy from Conde figured my problem out. My bg was #FEFEFE instead of pure white #FFFFFF. Hats off to Conde systems! Great company!
