For anyone who thinks pretreating doesn't have long term effects, you are WRONG, please read on.

I started preatreating in 2012 without any safety measures since the gallon does not have any warning labels or literature for me to proceed and use with caution. I was exposed to it daily with adequate ventilation. Slowly, overtime, I noticed my breathing was affected. In February of 2014, both of my ankles started to swell. They swelled so much so that I couldnt stand, let alone walk, take care of my toddler or work. The swelling would accompany redness, intense pain, immobility, inflexibility of my foot joins, and excessive heat. I had to be wheeled to the hospital! I was seeing every kind of specialist from Podiatrists, Vascular doctors, to general med docs and even went to the ER where few doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. I have had my blood drawn at different intervals within a month and a half battling this condition for all possible indications to point to a cause for my condition to no avail. I had 3 vascular ultrasounds, MRI of my ankles, X Rays and CT Scans of my legs, arms, chest and lungs. I fainted one night and after coming to I could not breathe, as if someone was chocking me. The swelling and pain in my ankles gave way to more symptoms...I began having granulomas growing in bony areas all over my body, from my ankles, to my knees and elbows. At this point I started having pain in all my bones and joins like arthritis. This is when I saw a Rheumatologist who requested more blood work and breathing test.

All this to say that I was diagnosed with Lofgren Syndrome, a type of Sarcoidosis and have been on steroids for the last 2 months still waiting to get better. If you study closely what these conditions are, you will know that it is a condition caused by airborne substance entering the body (lungs) although the medicinal world doesn't yet have a specific cause as it can be individual for different people exposed to different substances. In my case it is the preatreatment...I stopped the steroid for 2 days a week ago and my symptoms quickly returned and I had to resume taking them again. I started wearing a protective mouth mask while pretreating to test that option for tracking my progress and I am happy to say I havent taken the steroid for a couple of days and have no symptoms returning. I wouldn't wish what I went through to my worst enemy, it was torture.

All of you reading this who believe your health was/is affected by preatreatment please contact me as I am seeking class action lawyers and will not settle down until I can change the labeling policy at the least, as I believe everyone from long time users to start ups have the lawful right to know what they are working with and how to safely use the mixture without experiencing health issues. I have a hard time understanding that the MSDS will specify a list of possible health hazards of eyes, respiratory tract, to skin yet the labeling says "non-toxic" and that it is not considered a "health hazard" and does not require protective gear of any kind on the label. This is wrong!

It's best to take precautions when pretreating by hand with a sprayer. Wear full face respirators or half face respirators with eye goggles. Wear gloves and/or long sleeves or make sure to wash hands and face after pretreating. Also make sure to spray in a well ventilated area.

Even though many haven't had any symptoms we still don't know what the long term effects can be since pretreatment has only been around for almost a decade. There's nothing wrong with taking proper precautions.

Just an FYI, I don't think a viper changed much aside from skin contact and breathing in the wet fluid spray. When heating pretreat the vapors still cause a lot of inhalation issues. I have headaches daily until I started wearing a respirator. I could give a crap what anyone says about pretreat having no health hazards, if I don't know what it is an it stinks and gives me a headache whn breathing it in for a while, it probably isn't good for me. Anyone disagree? If so let us all know how long it takes to catch this disease Star has or cancer or something.

Thanks jmcgurren again for saying what is meant to be said. For those of you not wearing protection and boasting about it, I truly hope you get a little taste of what I went through so that you can learn some humility and a lesson or two. This is not a joke nor is it something you make fun of others for, this is about our health! !

I had a private message from someone who has exactly what I have. After she read my post, she took heed and wore a mask and her swelling has actually subsided just by avoiding breathing in the fumes. Are we all going to still sit and wonder whether pretreatment is dangerous without protection?? The question here is not whether pretreatment is a hazard because we all know it is, the real problem is why hasn't the manufacturer taken proper precautions to label them as such by requiring users to wear protection.

Obviously, no extensive research has been conducted, because if there had been, test results would have easily identified short/long term illnesses associated with PT.

Now who is with me or against me?

If you read the posts in the other thread you will see people using the words common sense. That people need to use common sense and take precautions when pretreating if your getting sick from it. Thats not how you go about saying things. The reality is that some people have more common sense then others and some people don't have it at all. So for the people having symptoms from pretreating that have little common sense or none at all; do you tell those people "Well its your fault you got sick from the PT because you don't have common sense." Who are they to judge these people? The right way about it is labeling the product to take these precautions and educate your customers in doing so as well. I don't see how thats too difficult. Theres only been a few people that have posted that have had symptoms including myself but that doesn't mean that there are not others out there. I've known others in the past. A small percentage of dtg users actually post or know about the Tshirt forums. These posts should be meant to inform and to help others that come across this forum for years to come.

For anyone in the future that reads this you can see the original posts about concerns over pretreatment here:
