Im really picky with the shirts I wear. They have to fit a certain way or they will just hang in the closet. I have several shirts that I love, but they have been relabeled. Some have what the shirt is made of and some dont, but my dumb question is, is there any way to know what is the brand of the shirt? Are there any giveaways that a person can tell a Gildan from a Hanes from an American Apparel from etc???

Ive already called they few companies about their shirts, and they wont release what brand the shirt is.

Thanks for any advice, ideas, info you can give.

If the RN number is on a garment you can look it up here:
https://rn.ftc.gov/Account/BasicSearch

That said, if there are any garment distributors in your region, you should checkout their showroom, feel and fondle, and buy some samples.

That said, while we like what we like, how sure are you that all your potential customers like the same fit as you do?

Thanks for the reply NoXid.

The RN# would that be found on tag or even when relabeling they have to put the number back?

I appreciate your input, shirts are just for me. They are part of my colleges uniform I have to wear for next 2 years, and the shirts they use are the heavy cotton ones that just drape over a person, sleeves to elbows and room in there for 2 arms and overall length is like Im wearing a 1/2 shirt.

I do have an idea for a shirt, based towards fitness, they do typically like things to fit better on the body, not saying all would like shirt choice either, so you are correct, but then again, I dont know if I will even get that far with my current schedule.

Splathead,

I called them asking about the shirt that they no longer print. He said they have changed the shirt since then from what they use now. He also said if memory serves him right, it was an American Apparel 50/50 but he wasnt 100% sure. I did measure the shirt I have now versus what the page page says and its pretty close on all measurements ( not that means much ). I just like the overall length of the shirt ( seems longer ), the softness, the shirt doesnt stretch out very much compared to some t's I have and the way the sleeves fit ( tight, and midlength not down to elbow ). Also Im a bigger guy 6' 240lbs, and the sleeve sew line where it attaches shirt is on my shoulder, where it should be, not creeping down my arm where the deltoid attaches. Thanks for any input.

I thought about it ( purchasing ) but then if its not it, Ill be adding to a collection a never wear. Any idea if Gildan 50/50's are comparable to the AA's?

I do suppose its going to be the inevitable and having a bunch of shirts ordered...

No, nothing labeled Gildan is comparable to an AA style.

The new AA owned by Gildan are cut and feel the same as before Gildan bought them (they just sent me a sample pack the other day: one USA made 2001 and one Honduran made 2001W).

2001 is their 100% cotton men's shirt, and the one that the other fashion forward companies copied. They also had tri-blend and poly/cotton shirts with the same general cut. AA has their basic styles back out there, but some are not yet back on the market.

Next Level Apparel and Bella+Canvas both have styles with the same general cut and fit as AA.
