Hey!

I was wondering is someone could explain the difference between the two types of printing. The little bit of information I have read seem to state that DTG is not as good. Is this true? Is one cheaper than the other?

Also, can anyone recomend a DTG printer in the GTA/Durahm Area?

Thanks!

with screen printing you will make money, with dtg printing you will waste money

the simplest form of screen printing is putting a platic type of ink on shirts using spot colors. you basically create a screen for each color and fill the screens with ink and put it on the shirt and heat cure it. it might take you an hour to set up a job and the same to clean up after. you can do 30 or more shirts an hour. you can get into screen printing for under $1K.

with dtg printing, it is like printing on a sheet of paper. the machine does the colors for you. there is no set up or clean up. you just press print and away it goes. you can do 2-10 shirts an hour with a table top model. the least expensive ones are around $12K unless you go with a diy type.

check out youtube for screen printing and dtg printing and you can see the differences in process.

Screen Printing is the old way to print. You will have to hand pick the colors, create the screen, registration, wash and clean after you have done it all. Screen printing you have the limitations of how many colors you will use on a garment. With direct to garment you are using digital technology to create any color image. you have millions of colors, there is no preparation screens, there is no cleaning up after you have finished your printing. The only thing you will have to be good at is creating good images on the computer, the printer will translate that imaga onto the garment. Also if you are using white in on your print jobs you may need to be more careful on the maintenance of the printer. There is a distributor in Ontario, ValueRite- They have both heat transfer and direct to garment printer machines call the for more information.
